Paddleboarding in Maine Turns Deadly: Woman Found Murdered

A peaceful paddleboarding trip in Maine ended in tragedy when Sunshine “Sunny” Stewart, 48, disappeared and later was found murdered. Stewart went out alone on Crawford Pond in Maine’s Knox region and never returned.

Because her loved ones grew concerned quickly, they reported her missing to the authorities. Consequently, Maine State Police launched a search around Crawford Pond and its surrounding areas. During the search, officers found Stewart’s body near 100 Acre Island. They described the circumstances as unusual.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy and concluded that someone murdered Stewart. However, authorities have not released the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, police have not arrested any suspects and continue to investigate the case thoroughly.

In addition, officials are asking the public to help solve this case. They want anyone who saw Stewart paddleboarding in Maine, especially near 100 Acre Island during the early evening, to contact law enforcement. Investigators believe that witness tips could lead to an arrest.

Stewart’s friends and family remember her as strong and fearless. For example, her friend Rob Wood shared on Facebook that she faced obstacles with a smile and never gave up. “She was one of the strongest people I’ve ever met,” Wood wrote.

Furthermore, her sister Kim Ware highlighted Stewart’s many talents. Stewart worked as a marine biologist, bartender, lobsterman, and boat captain. Another close friend, Stacey Yandell, said Stewart rebuilt her own house and learned every skill she tried. “She was her own HGTV,” Yandell said proudly.

To help cover funeral and memorial costs, Stewart’s friends set up a GoFundMe campaign. They want to give her the farewell she deserves.

The local community remains shaken by Stewart’s sudden death. What started as a calm day of paddleboarding quickly turned into a serious investigation. As police work to find answers, the phrase paddleboarding in Maine now carries a tragic meaning for many residents.

Therefore, authorities encourage anyone with information to come forward. They stress the importance of community support to bring justice for Stewart.
