A significant immigration enforcement operation in Northern Virginia resulted in the arrest of 214 individuals who were in the U.S. illegally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported. The arrests took place between March 1 and March 13 as part of a targeted operation focusing on transnational organized crime, gang activities, and serious illegal immigration offenses.
ICE officials highlighted that the operation primarily targeted violent gangs, including MS-13 and the 18th Street gang, which have been involved in criminal activities across the region. The agency emphasized the collaborative effort with local law enforcement, stating that the operation’s success was due to the strong partnerships that allowed agents to dismantle criminal organizations operating within Northern Virginia communities.
Christopher Heck, acting Special Agent in Charge for ICE Homeland Security Investigations Washington, D.C., expressed gratitude for the dedication of all those involved. “The apprehension of 214 alien offenders is impressive and was only made possible through strong partnerships,” said Heck. “ICE will continue to work tirelessly to dismantle transnational criminal organizations working in our neighborhoods.”
