Gemini Image Generation Becomes Free for Eligible US Users as Google Expands AI Features

Gemini Image Generation is now available for free to eligible users across the United States, expanding access to Google’s personalized AI image creation tools. The latest update allows more people to generate customized images without paying for a premium subscription. As a result, users can create visuals that reflect their personal interests while benefiting from Gemini’s understanding of their connected Google services.

Google announced that the feature is now available to all eligible U.S. users at no cost. Previously, only subscribers to the company’s Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans could access the personalized image generation capability. Therefore, the wider rollout significantly increases availability for everyday users interested in AI-powered creative tools.

The feature relies on Google’s Nano Banana image generation technology, which works alongside Gemini’s Personal Intelligence system. Instead of requiring detailed prompts every time, the system understands a user’s preferences through approved Google account connections. Consequently, users can generate more personalized images with shorter and simpler requests.

For instance, someone who regularly searches for baking recipes, watches coffee-related videos, and stores travel photos can request an illustration featuring favorite interests without listing every detail. Gemini automatically uses available context from connected services to create more relevant results while reducing the amount of manual input required.

The system can also access images stored in Google Photos after receiving permission from the user. Accordingly, individuals may include their own appearance in generated artwork without uploading pictures separately for every request. This approach streamlines the creative process while making personalized image creation faster and more convenient.

Google first introduced Personal Intelligence earlier this year before expanding availability to a broader audience. Since then, the company has continued increasing access across different markets. More recently, users in India and Japan also received access to the feature, reflecting Google’s ongoing international expansion strategy.

Importantly, Personal Intelligence remains completely optional. Users choose whether Gemini can connect to services such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search. Furthermore, the feature only works after users grant permission, allowing them to maintain control over their connected data and privacy preferences.

Once enabled, the personalization setting automatically applies to future prompts. However, users can disable the feature at any time through a dedicated toggle located in Gemini’s Tools menu. Therefore, people remain free to switch personalized responses on or off whenever they prefer.

Google also continues expanding Gemini with additional AI capabilities beyond personalized images. Recently, the company previewed several upcoming improvements designed to strengthen the application. These include a Daily Brief feature, a redesigned interface, access to the Gemini Omni AI video model, and a personal AI assistant called Gemini Spark.

Meanwhile, Gemini Image Generation arrives as Google’s AI platform continues attracting a rapidly growing audience. Earlier this year, Gemini exceeded 750 million monthly active users, highlighting strong adoption across consumer markets. Consequently, Google continues investing in new AI features that improve personalization, creativity, and everyday productivity while expanding access to a broader user base.
