Trump Forms AI Council With Tech Leaders

U.S. President Donald Trump appointed top technology executives to a new AI Council this week. The AI Council aims to shape America’s approach to artificial intelligence and global technological competition.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, joined the council alongside Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Oracle Executive Chairman Larry Ellison. Additionally, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and AMD CEO Lisa Su were named to the initial group of thirteen members.

The council will provide strategic guidance on artificial intelligence policy and related technology initiatives across federal agencies. Trump has emphasized AI as a central priority for his second term in office, highlighting competition with China.

White House AI and crypto adviser David Sacks and technology advisor Michael Kratsios will co-chair the AI Council to ensure industry alignment. The council may expand to include a total of twenty-four members over time.

Executives joining the AI Council have expressed support for strengthening U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. Both Zuckerberg and Huang stated that collaboration between government and private industry will accelerate innovation and global competitiveness.

Commonwealth Fusion Systems CEO Bob Mumgaard also joined the AI Council, signaling broader support for fusion and energy innovation. These appointments suggest the administration is prioritizing emerging technologies beyond AI alone.

The White House emphasized that the AI Council will help reduce regulatory barriers and promote investment in American research and technology development. The administration views public-private cooperation as essential to maintaining global leadership in AI.

Artificial intelligence investment is growing rapidly in the U.S., with companies committing trillions of dollars over the coming years. The AI Council aims to guide policy decisions that ensure the United States maximizes this technological advantage.
