A tragic shooting unfolded early Sunday morning at a Brooklyn restaurant, shaking the Franklin Avenue neighborhood. The Taste of the City shooting took place just after 3:30 a.m., drawing a massive police response.
According to the New York Police Department, officers rushed to the scene after receiving several 911 calls. The incident happened inside the Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish addressed the public during a press conference.
She confirmed that 11 people were shot. The victims included eight men and three women, all between the ages of 27 and 61. Three male victims died from their injuries. One was 27, another 35, and the third man’s age remains unknown.
Meanwhile, emergency crews transported the other eight victims to local hospitals. Their current conditions remain unclear. Detectives are working to gather more details.
Police now believe that multiple shooters carried out the attack. Officers are analyzing security footage from the area to identify those involved. During the investigation, police found 36 shell casings inside the lounge.
Additionally, officers recovered a firearm near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway. They are now trying to determine whether that weapon played a role in the Taste of the City shooting.
Footage from the scene shows flashing lights and police tape wrapping around the block. Multiple squad cars filled the area as detectives collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
So far, authorities have not made any arrests. The NYPD continues to search for suspects. Investigators urge anyone with information to come forward immediately.
Despite this tragedy, Commissioner Tish noted a broader trend. She said that New York City has seen fewer shootings overall this year. However, the Taste of the City shooting has deeply shaken the community and disrupted that progress.
Officials from both the NYPD and the Taste of the City Lounge have not issued additional statements. The investigation remains active.
